Freedom, Independence, & Service
July is a month of celebration — Freedom, Independence, and Service are on the minds and in the hearts of most Americans. Pride and honor can be seen on the faces and in the eyes of those who are proud to live in this country.
In my personal life, my husband and grandson celebrate their birthdays this month! Happy Birthday Robert John and Avery James. I love and adore you with all my heart. You light up my life. xox
The United States of America, land of the free and home of the brave, Happy Independence Day. I love my country with all of my heart and soul. I love and honor our veterans who have gone before and who are serving now to uphold and keep sacred the freedoms we each get to enjoy today and everyday of our lives — my husband, Robert John, U.S. Navy, my father, Ovide LaCour, III, U.S. Marine, Billy LaGrone, U.S. Army, and Nikkea Devida, U.S. Air Force to name a few. And although I do not know you all by name, I thank you for your service and for loving the USA and freedom so much. You are forever in my prayers of gratitude, health, and well-being. xox
In my business life, Lighten Up All Over, LLC is one year old!! Hard to believe that in this past year I have been blessed to be coached by some of the greatest leaders on our planet — Nancy Matthews, Trish Carr, Ellen McDowell, and Gina Battye. Thank you for holding the space for me, sharing your mastery, and teaching me how to shine my light and speak my message to fulfill my passion and purpose. May your light continue to shine brightly and your dedication to leadership be strong and true. xox
I am forever grateful for the most courageous clients I have ever had the privilege of serving. You inspire me everyday as we walk the lighten up path together toward creating the lives you desire and deserve. May God continue to bless each and everyone of you. xox
When I think about the people in each of these groups, I can see where Freedom, Independence and Service are alive and well.
My husband and I had an experience recently where all 3 of these came into play in a serious real life adventure about how divine intervention, taking critical action, and being of service in normal everyday life can lead to unexpected life changing and opportunities.
We were on a road trip to the city, driving North on a double road highway. He noticed a truck driving up behind him and swerving into our lane on the left. As he pulled further over to the right and onto the shoulder of the road, we noticed the same thing happened to another vehicle in front of us. My husband felt a sense and duty to report this to the police before someone was injured. We followed the truck to get all of the identifying information we could and 9-1-1 was called and the driver was reported. He was asked if he wanted to file a complaint and he assured the Dispatcher that he did and would wait in the parking lot with the truck until the officer arrived.
As we waited a safe distance, but visible distance from the truck, the driver came out several times to the back of his truck and then returning to the cab again. As a personal safety precaution, we remained in our vehicle until the officers arrived minutes later. The young man was questioned and during the investigation it was determined that he had no license, no insurance, and no registration, and no license plate on the truck. The complaint paperwork was completed and given to the officer and the young man was taken in for further investigation.
A week later while my husband was in town working, one of the 3 officers who had answered the 9-1-1 call that day pulled him over and gave him an update on the complaint. Turns out the young man was a 15 year old runaway from another state and had stolen the truck from that state.
The day of our errand running adventure was to be a day of decisions made by that young man which in turn led to decisions made by my husband. The door of opportunity to be of service to safety for us and for others had been opened and he answered that call with a Yes. What an awesome experience. You never know where one opportunity and decision will lead and with whom you may cross paths along the way.
